The Velters are a race of four-eyed beings that closely resemble humans. Their first pair of eyes sees in the ordinary range, while the second pair has expanded capabilities. The Velters are found in many sectors, but their concentration grows the further north one travels. This race is a matriarchy: women hold the dominant position in it.
The Velters live on the boundary between the Underworld and the ordinary world. They interact closely with the races of the Underworld while not hiding from the eyes of ordinary inhabitants. Velter women are traditionally considered witches for their special abilities — they can survive after very severe wounds and keep the secrets of using many different pheromones and poisons. The Velters are feared, yet respected. This race rarely has states of its own; even settlements are relatively rare.
Relatively well known is the Guild of Cutters — a sinister sect that engaged in extracting and selling organs prized on the black market. They catered to the gourmet appetites of certain races and gourmands, and also sold organs to underground doctors. The Cutters often operated as part of various bandit gangs and groups.
