The Eltraks are a race that fell under strong Eman cultural influence. That influence proved to be no surface matter: their state, too, is built on Eman precepts.
The Eltrak gvidanstvo sits on the border of the sector and is modelled on the Eman gvidanstvos: in effect one-man rule, a harsh repressive apparatus, and hard racism with the subjugation of other races.
The Eltraks press on with their long expansion into Gnot space, folding ever more territory under themselves.
They go about it with great cruelty, paying no regard to losses among the civilian population and not infrequently staging local genocides wherever resistance cannot be effectively put down.
The sector against whose border the gvidanstvo presses is a fairly undeveloped one. Most of its population are the Gnots, whose empire was wrecked more than four thousand years ago by a crusade against technology — and it is into their space that the Eltrak expansion runs.
The Eltraks' neighbours are of a piece with them: the nomadic Chikhans supply Gnot slaves to other sectors, while the Karuses, who find ore deposits by scent, hold influence in every state of the sector — the gvidanstvo included, which needs their knowledge to push further on.
An Eltrak is a squat, green-skinned creature in fine scales, with large yellow eyes, a pink muzzle and a thick green mane that frames the face and falls onto the chest.
In the illustration he wears a pale blue uniform: a gold shoulder board, dark insignia on the breast, an armband bearing an emblem and a broad blue-and-white sash across the torso. His feet are bare and clawed.
